GLETSCHER - KLIMA – HOCHALPINE FORSCHUNG
Nature Park Infopoint Hohe Mut
Experience a natural history exhibition in a class of its own. On the 2,670 m high Hohe Mut Alm with its attractive view of the mighty glaciers of the Rotmoos and Gaisberg valleys, you will learn remarkable facts about life in and on the glacier, the climate change that can be felt everywhere and the decades of high Alpine research in Ötztal. The interactive nature park exhibition in 2 languages (de-en) shows selected exhibits on the high Alpine flora and fauna on 135 m², explains the fascinating and colorful variety of the Obergurgl rocks and lets you feel glacier ice up close. The centerpiece of the exhibition with its 10 multimedia experience stations is a 1.5 x 90 cm multimedia table that provides fascinating insights into the most amazing research results. A sensational exhibit is an approximately 3,500-year-old ibex horn, which was found 6 years ago on the nearby Rotmoosjoch and is on public display here for the first time in Austria.

The exhibition
The Hohe Mut/Obergurgl Infopoint is located in the basement of the Hohe Mut Alm at 2,670 meters and can be described as a real “highlight” within the existing Nature Park Infopoints, and not just because of its altitude.
In line with the basic concept of the nature park structures, this Infopoint presents the local focus topics “Glacier - Climate - High Alpine Research” at 10 different stations using multimedia and in two languages (German/English).
In detail
The 135m2 exhibition room welcomes visitors with a fascinating, expansive view through the open window front facing south to the glaciated valley heads of the Rotmoos and Gaisberg valleys. The colorful diversity of the Obergurgl stones can be found as a cross-sectional theme on the high-quality natural stone walls.
